Fall 2010 Co-Curricular Week
University offices will continue with normal hours of operation on weekdays. Classes will resume on Monday, October 18, for Concurrent and Part-Time Consecutive teacher candidates.  University sessional dates and the fall co-curricular week do not apply to Full-Time Consecutive teacher candidates. For more information on sessional dates, visit http://www.registrar.yorku.ca/importantdates/fw10.htm.

Summer Science Advising Session
For students who started the Concurrent BEd Summer Science program option in Summer 2010, a mandatory advising session has been scheduled for Friday, October 15, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in Winters College 117. Jennifer Watt, our Practicum Coordinator, will be there to discuss practicum-related items. The course schedule will also be reviewed.

October Convocation
The ceremony for the Faculty of Education is scheduled for Wednesday, October 13 at 10:30 am. Robing begins at 8:30 am in the Player’s Lounge of the Rexall Centre. Because the ceremony is smaller in the fall than in the summer, all graduands will receive up to three (3) guest tickets. There will be approximately 600 additional tickets for each ceremony available to our graduating students (a limit of two additional) at the box office two hours prior to the ceremony start time. For further details, including how your name will appear on your diploma, visit the convocation web site at http://www.yorku.ca/mygrad/. Students should submit their OCT registration number to 128 Winters College before they graduate so that the Faculty of Education can forward their recommendation to OCT. Students are responsible for arranging for their official post-secondary transcripts to be sent to OCT. The Faculty of Education will not send transcripts on the student’s behalf.

Are You on the Official Classlist?
A teacher candidate will not receive a final grade for coursework if he/she is not listed on the official classlist. You should not attend classes for a section that is not the one listed on your student record. Because official classlists are used for submitting final grades, if you are listed on a classlist for one section but attending another, you will receive a failure grade because you did not submit assignments to the instructor for the section where your name appears on the classlist. The final date for Part-Time Consecutive and Concurrent teacher candidates to enrol with the instructor’s permission for a Y term (full year) course is October 29. The final date to drop a Fall (F) term course without receiving a grade is November 12. Teacher candidates will require special permission via a student petition submitted to BEd Student Services in 128 Winters college to drop a mandatory Education course.

Faculty of Education Webmail
All teacher candidates should check regularly messages sent to their Faculty of Education webmail account. If students have difficulty accessing their email account, they should contact the Faculty of Education helpdesk. For contact information, visit http://edu.yorku.ca/itservices.html.
