Student Focus Group
The Faculty of Education is currently exploring different student email services (Google or Microsoft based). To that end, students are invited to participate in 1-hour focus sessions. Those who participate will receive a $20 bookstore gift certificate. To indicate your interest, please complete the online form before November 22. ED3 Summer Science
For Summer Science students who have already completed two summers and plan to graduate June 2012, a third summer with the Faculty of Education is required. A 20-day block in the month of May will need to be completed. Students should enroll themselves into PRAC 4000 Section M in the winter term(Cat # X75F01). If students have not yet satisfied the 9 credits for Education electives, they must enroll in Education electives for the winter 2012 term in order to graduate in June. For assistance with enrolling in electives, contact Teresa Boyle at tboyle@edu.yorku.ca.

ED2 Summer Science

ED1 One-Week Observation
If you are a concurrent or part-time consecutive BEd student and have not done so already, please complete the online practicum form for the ED1 One-Week Observation form as soon as possible. Please be advised that the school zone and Board preferences that you select for your ED1 one-week observation placement will also determine your placement for ED2. York University Volunteer Fair
On Thursday, November 17, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, in Vari Hall drop into the Volunteer Fair and connect with local organizations to learn more about their volunteer opportunities for York students and new graduates. Please note the room change for PRIJ 3031 Section G in the first half of the winter term (WD) on Fridays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The classroom is YH 172.

Awards and Bursaries
All Faculty of Education students are eligible to apply for Faculty of Education awards and bursaries. If you are interested in applying, please go to http://sfs.yorku.ca/services/award_search to search for Faculty of Education awards. Certain awards will require additional documents so please read the criteria carefully before you submit an application.

Online Course Evaluations
Course evaluations provide an opportunity for you to give your instructors feedback about your courses. All your input is kept completely confidential and no information is released to instructors before final grades are submitted. For some fall term full-time consecutive BEd courses and all fall term concurrent and part-time BEd courses, including the J/I teaching subjects, online course evaluations are available from November 15 to December 6. Ethics and Legal Studies in Education
In the fall term, each Concurrent BEd Teacher Candidate is responsible for completing the appropriate year of the on-line tutorial during the fall term. The tutorial can be accessed at the Ethics and Legal Studies in Education (ELSE) portal at http://www.ysimste.ca/else/. Teacher Candidates will submit a copy of their final quiz results to their Seminar Leaders by the end of November. (TCs need to achieve a grade of 80% in the final quiz.) Issues from the on-line tutorial will be integrated into the practicum seminars.

Practicum Reports
Practicum reports are not to be faxed/sent to the Practicum Office. It is the TC’s responsibility to get a copy of the report from the MT (York is no longer keeping them).
