Practicum Information
All ED1 Teacher Candidates MUST set aside the week following the exam period - April 28th to May 2nd for the observation block and final assignment.  Students will spend 2 days in a school observation placement, 1 day investigating the community, have 1 day to write the paper, and 1 day (Friday) on campus meeting with their CMYR 2100 Seminar Leader and class.

The online form, which is accessible through the practicum login on the main education homepage, will be available from Thursday February 13th to Thursday February 27th.  That's 2 full weeks to login and input the information needed.  Below is the link to the login page.  Use your Passport York username and password to login.
https://practicum.edu.yorku.ca/gateway/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fPracticum%2fOne.aspx%3fcontextId%3d9187%26objectId%3d9187

The ED1 selection will serve as the ED2 (2014-2015) placement request so it is critical that Teacher Candidates  choose zones suitable for the year and whether they prefer a public or catholic placement.  For ED2 Teach Candidates, returning from Stop out, you also need to complete the form for the 2014-2015 year as planning for placements begins before the school year wraps up.  Look for more information on this in upcoming communications.

Please contact the practicum office by email at practicumoffice@edu.yorku.ca if there are any questions or issues with the system.

Reminder: Concurrent students can Specialize in International Education in their BEd degree!
We are the first Faculty of Education in Ontario to offer this Specialization within the existing BEd degree program! Interested in finding out more details? Visit http://edu.yorku.ca/intl/students/specialization/

June Convocation
Graduating BEd students should view the information on the university’s convocation Web site for details regarding the ceremony and diploma services. Only Concurrent BEd students need to apply to graduate online using the convocation Web site. Deadline to apply for is January 31, 2014. If any Full-Time or Part-Time Consecutive BEd students have already completed the online application, the information will be accepted; however, the Faculty of Education will mount the application to graduate for every consecutive student so it is not necessary for them to complete the online application. The actual date has not been set for the Faculty of Education Keele campus convocation. Web site can be found at http://www.yorku.ca/mygraduation.

Recommendation to OCT
All concurrent, full time and  part time consecutive graduating students for June 2014 convocation should submit their Ontario College Teachers (OCT) registration number by June 1, 2014  to the Faculty of Education.

The online form is available through the Faculty of Education SharePoint Site at edu.yorku.ca. Log into Student SharePoint, select Undergraduate, then select OCT Registration Number Submission. This will require logging into Passport York.

In order for the BEd Student Services Office to send your recommendation, we require the OCT registration number for each graduating teacher candidate. To apply for OCT membership visit: www.oct.ca, select Members and then Create an Account.

Transcripts to OCT
Graduating BEd teacher candidates will need to make arrangements themselves to order all post-secondary transcripts to be sent to the Ontario College of Teachers. When ordering transcripts, please indicate that you wish for your York University transcript to be sent upon degree completion. Your transcripts must indicate your Bachelor of Education degree has been conferred. This means your transcripts should not be sent until after the June convocation. The Faculty of Education will only send your recommendation to OCT following convocation. Transcripts ordered by the student and the recommendation sent by the Faculty of Education are required for certification. For more information, visit http://www.oct.ca/become_a_teacher/?lang=en-CA.
