Individual Advising
The Faculty of Education, Office of Student Services offers individual advising three days a week -Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10am to 4pm.  To book an appointment visit and select SharePoint.  Log in using your Passport York username and password. Select Undergraduate / Academic Advising.

Reminder: Concurrent students can Specialize in International Education in their BEd degree!
We are the first Faculty of Education in Ontario to offer this Specialization within the existing BEd degree program! Interested in finding out more details? Visit

  1. Concurrent students can obtain a Specialization in International Education! Apply by December 23 in the year that you are applying to graduate. Application and details are at: Consecutive students: on the International Practicum Placement: Complete a placement for the month of May in Kenya, Nicaragua or China!   The deadline is December 10th at 4:00 pm. 2015 BEd Graduates – Apply to Ontario College of Teachers for your Membership registration Teacher Candidates graduating in June 2015 will be applying to the Ontario College of Teachers to become a certified member. Application information is available at: In order for the BEd Student Services Office to send your recommendation we require the OCT registration number for each graduating teacher candidate. To apply for OCT membership visit:, select Members and then Create an Account.

Recommendation to OCT All concurrent, full time consecutive and part time consecutive graduating students for June 2015 convocation should submit their Ontario College Teachers (OCT) registration number by June 1, 2015 to the Faculty of Education. The online form is available through the Faculty of Education SharePoint Site at Log into Student SharePoint, select Undergraduate, then select OCT Registration Number Submission. This will require logging into Passport York.

Religious Education: Teaching in Catholic Schools Intended to introduce pre-service teacher candidates to professional practice and to extend knowledge and skills in the delivery of Ontario Catholic curriculum, this course answers the question, “What do I need to know to begin teaching in Ontario Catholic Schools?” Critical to the implementation of this course is the modeling of a positive learning environment that reflects care, professional knowledge, ethical practice, leadership and ongoing learning. Who Should Attend Any undergrad teacher candidate in the final year of education studies and interested in preparing to teach in Catholic schools. NOTE: This course is open only to York University Faculty of Education undergraduate students. This course is not equivalent to the Religious Education, Part 1 additional qualification.   • 36 hours in length; 10 hours online & 26 in-class
  • Offered in the Fall and Winter sessions
  • A Certificate of Completion is provided upon successful completion

Degree Requirement Student Checklist Students in the Concurrent and Part-Time Consecutive BEd can check that they have completed all the requirements for their BEd by using the checklist available on SharePoint  The degree requirement checklists are listed under “Links” on the left-hand side of the Undergraduate homepage. You will need to log in to Passport York. Candidates in Indigenous Education, Jewish Teacher Education and the BEd (French) program options must also check their specific BEd program requirements separately.

Are You on the Official Classlist? A teacher candidate will not receive a final grade for coursework if he/she is not listed on the official classlist. You should not attend classes for a section that is not the one listed on your student record. Because official classlists are used for submitting final grades, if you are listed on a classlist for one section but attending another, you will receive a failure grade because you did not submit assignments to the instructor for the section where your name appears on the classlist. Updating your contact information Please remember if you change your residential address or phone number(s) you should update this information through York U. Online Service: My Student Records and select   Change My Profile at  Its’ also encouraged to add a contact person in case of emergency.
