Degree Requirement Student Checklist
Students in the Concurrent and Part-Time Consecutive BEd can check that they have completed all the requirements for their BEd by using the checklist available on SharePoint https://sharepoint.edu.yorku.ca/sites/fedstudents/ug/default.aspx. The degree requirement checklists are listed under “Links” on the left-hand side of the Undergraduate homepage. You will need to log in to Passport York. Candidates in Summer Science, Indigenous Education, Jewish Teacher Education and the BEd (French) program options must also check their specific BEd program requirements separately.
Are You on the Official Classlist?
A teacher candidate will not receive a final grade for coursework if he/she is not listed on the official classlist. You should not attend classes for a section that is not the one listed on your student record. Because official classlists are used for submitting final grades, if you are listed on a classlist for one section but attending another, you will receive a failure grade because you did not submit assignments to the instructor for the section where your name appears on the classlist.
Code of Student Rights & Responsibilities
York University is a place of research, teaching and learning where people value civility, diversity, equity, honesty and respect in their direct and indirect interactions with one another. All York students have rights and responsibilities as outlined in the PDF document which can be found on the Office of Student Conflict Resolution web site at http://www.yorku.ca/oscr/codeofrr.html.
ED3 Summer Science
For Summer Science students who have already completed two summers and plan to graduate June 2013, a third summer with the Faculty of Education is required. A 20-day block in the month of May will need to be completed. Students should enroll themselves into a PRAC 4000 section in the winter term. If students have not yet satisfied the 9 credits for Education electives, they must enroll in and complete Education electives for the winter 2013 term in order to graduate in June. Summer Science students will be contacted by our student advisors to assist with enrolment during the week of November 26, 2012.
Recommendation to OCT
All concurrent and part time consecutive graduating students for June 2013 convocation should submit their Ontario College Teachers (OCT) registration number by June 1, 2013, to the Faculty of Education.
The online form is available through the Faculty of Education SharePoint Site at edu.yorku.ca. Log into Student SharePoint, select Undergraduate, then select OCT Registration Number Submission. This will require logging into Passport York.
In order for the BEd Student Services Office to send your recommendation, we require the OCT registration number for each graduating teacher candidate. To apply for OCT membership visit: www.oct.ca, select Members and then Create an Account.
Please remember that the Faculty of Education will send recommendations for graduating teacher candidates approximately 1-2 weeks after convocation. Students must send their transcripts to OCT themselves. Please visit the online transcript request at http://www.registrar.yorku.ca/transcripts/index.htm
Online Course Evaluations
Course evaluations provide an opportunity for you to give your instructors feedback about your courses. All your input is kept completely confidential and no information is released to instructors before final grades are submitted. For some fall term full-time consecutive BEd courses and all fall term concurrent and part-time BEd courses, including the J/I teaching subjects, online course evaluations are available from November 13 to December 4.
