Student Services Newsletter - December

University Holiday Closure
The last day in December for administrative offices to open on campus is December 23. All administrative offices will be closed December 24 through to January 3. Offices will re-open on January 4.

Online Course Evaluations
Online course evaluations for Fall term courses are available to students until December 10. Your input is very valuable to us. It will help improve and enhance student experience and satisfaction in courses. All your input is kept completely confidential and no information is released to instructors before final grades are submitted. To provide feedback on your course directors, visit http://courseevaluations.yorku.ca.

Online Practicum Forms
All ED1 Concurrent and Part-Time Consecutive BEd students must complete an online practicum form to indicate their preferences for weeks in May and geographic regions for their one-week observations to occur. There are two separate online practicum forms. Students enrolled in the regular Keele campus BEd program (not Jewish Teacher Education), should visit http://edu.yorku.ca/bed/oneweek.html to complete their submission prior to January 7, 2011. Teacher candidates enrolled in the BEd (French) program, should visit http://edu.yorku.ca/bed/oneweekfrench.html to complete their submission prior to February 1, 2011.

Practicum Reports
Fall term practicum reports for Full-Time Consecutive teacher candidates are not to be faxed/sent to the Practicum Office. It is the responsibility of the teacher candidate to get a copy of the report from the mentor teacher (York University is no longer keeping them on file). Reports should not be housed at a consecutive site for any longer than this school year.

Tax Forms
Information related to tax forms for income tax purposes can be found online at http://sfs.yorku.ca/fees/taxforms/index.htm.

Program Change Requests
On December 1, the Registrar’s Office launched a new online tool “My Program” for undergraduate students to request a change to their academic programs, to reactivate their record or to request non-degree status. For Concurrent teacher candidates who wish to make changes within the Faculty of Education related to changing certification level and/or teaching subjects, students will continue to complete paper forms which are available in WC 128.

June Convocation
Graduating BEd students should view the information on the university’s convocation Web site for details regarding the ceremony and diploma services. Only Concurrent BEd students need to apply to graduate online using the convocation Web site. If any Full-Time or Part-Time Consecutive BEd students have already completed the online application, the information will be accepted; however, the Faculty of Education will mount the application to graduate for every consecutive student so it is not necessary for them to complete the application. The actual date has not been set for the Faculty of Education Keele campus convocation but the ceremonies will occur the week of June 13-17. The convocation ceremony at Glendon will occur June 18. The convocation Web site can be found at http://www.yorku.ca/mygraduation.
