Don Gailbraith Preservice Teacher Award of Excellence
The Science Teachers’ Association of Ontario/Association des professeurs de sciences de l’Ontario (STAO/APSO) awards three awards for preservice candidates. Each award will consist of a certificate, a 3-year membership in STAO, an invitation to attend the STAO awards luncheon and one full STAO conference registration. Nominees will be required to submit a curriculum project, something suitable for inclusion in the STAO virtual library or a modest article for publication in STAO’s bi-monthly publications. Henry Jackman Award
Each year, the University of Toronto chapter of Phi Delta Kappa Inernational sponsors the Henry Jackman Award valued at $500 for an educator currently attending a Faculty of Education in the Greater Toronto area. A copy of a current student card, two signed original letters of education references, a resume and a 500-word essay is required. The essay should address the topic "In The Fourth Way: The Inspiring Future for Education Change (2009), Hargreaves and Shirley state, 'Teachers are the ultimate aribers of educational change. The classroom door is the open portal to innovation or the raised drawbridge that holds innovation at bay' (p.88)". Whether you are a prospective teacher, classroom teacher, school leader or system leader, comment on your role in keeping the classroom an "open portal to innovation". All submissions should be in paper and sent to Linda Massey, Ontario Principals' Council, 180 Dundas Street West, 25th Floor, Toronto, Ontairo, M5G 1Z8. An electronic submission is also required at lmassey@principals.ca. The deadline to apply is April 26, 2011.
Canadian Parents for French – BC & Yukon
