Summer Education Elective Waitlist
All Teacher Candidates in ED3 year and most of the ED2 year have been notified regarding their elective waitlist status.  Please make sure you check your York U. email(s) for information updates.   Priority is given to teacher candidates going into their ED3 year, who need the credits to graduate. First priority on the waitlist is granted to ED2 students going into ED3 who have zero credits towards their elective requirement. Next we consider ED2 students going into ED3 who have 3 credits and then we consider students going into ED3 with 6 credits.

EDUC 3820B, Teaching English Language Learners
Every teacher who works in Toronto should expect to have English language Learners in his or her class.  Even those students who have spent time in an ESL program still need very special support if they are to succeed in the mainstream, and teachers have to be able to find ways to make their regular program appropriate for these learners.

This is a very practical course that helps teacher candidates understand the challenges faced by ELL and shows them ways to adapt their classroom activities to allow success for all students in the classroom.

Welcome BEd Technological Education students
The Faculty of Education would like to welcome our new students in the BEd Technological Education program starting this summer.  Classes and community field placements will begin  the week of May4, 2012.   There will be an official welcome and group advising session held on Tuesday, April 24 in MC 050.

Reminders from the March newsletter

June Convocation
Graduating BEd students should view the information on the university’s convocation Web site for details regarding the ceremony and diploma services. Only Concurrent BEd students need to apply to graduate online using the convocation Web site. If any Full-Time or Part-Time Consecutive BEd students have already completed the online application, the information will be accepted; however, the Faculty of Education will mount the application to graduate for every consecutive student so it is not necessary for them to complete the application. The Faculty of Education convocation ceremonies will occur on June 15 at 10:30 am (full-time consecutive) and 3:30 pm (Deaf Education, part-time consecutive and concurrent BEd). The convocation Web site can be found at http://www.yorku.ca/mygraduation.

When ordering transcripts, please indicate that you wish for your York University transcript to be sent upon degree completion. The link to the form is available on SharePoint. Transcripts ordered by the student and the recommendation sent by the Faculty of Education are required for certification.
