Bachelor of Education Teaching Certification It's important to remember that the BEd is a full-time academic program that has a very full schedule, and the degree is accredited as an in-person program; with the professional nature of the program and expectations from the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), it is also expected that students attend classes together in order to enrich their learning experiences and to prepare them to enter the teaching profession.  Visit the YU Better Together Information regarding current COVID-19 information and updates.

In order to remain  in the Faculty of Education BEd or to graduate, students must maintain a competent standard of performance in the Faculty of Education. Students will be ineligible to continue or to graduate if they receive less than a grade of C+ (Pass in EDPR practicums) in any course taken for education credit.

Concurrent BEd TC’s returning to Faculty of Education - Year 2  Concurrent teacher candidates are required to maintain a minimum C+ average in their undergraduate program to continue in the BEd program.  Those pursuing the junior/intermediate or intermediate/senior division are expected to achieve a minimum grade of C+ in each teachable subject course that is required to fulfill the requirements. Failure to do so may result in a suspension or involuntary withdrawal from the program or other appropriate recommendation at the discretion of the Faculty advisor and the associate dean (pre-service).

Bachelor of Education (BEd) course requirements Students needing to double-check the course requirements for the BEd program should visit YU Academic Calendar's.  Courses and Practicum requirements for all the teaching panels are posted. Visit  York U. Academic Calendars  and select Faculty Rules and then Course Requirements and Specializations.

The Office of Students Services provided  two virtual information sessions in late June for BA students moving into level 3 and 4 (level 3  =  54 to 82 credits and level 4 = 84 credits or more completed by end of summer) this September. We  discussed courses planned for FW 2022-23, program requirements, how to review your Degree Progress Report, and the EDST 3999 and EDST 4999 - Experience, Inquire and Contribute (EIC) options.  The EIC offers learning placements within the community or in related organizations as part of the Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies program. The placements are workplace-based learning to put theory to practice in the field of learning and education.
